blaming xiaomi for sending date is not ok, why we are not blaming apple, Samsung and order brand coz all manufacture there phone in china.

If Xiaomi employees cannot decrypt the data, why collect the data in the first place ? sound so fishy.
Xiaomi should explain what data they are collecting and for what purpose. Claiming the data are stored outside China is pointless as data can be transfer with a click of a mouse.

They have replied where the data is stored, the data is used only upon getting the permission from us etc. but nothing's been mentioned as to why the data is used.

Regarding the security concerns about any country is most valuable , we can't blindly believe the statement of security of data by a company that has recently came into the market . No doubt we all know that our gmail data are being used by us CIA And US intelligence officials many times as the news often leaked by Ansaje . First set up the server in secure place then provide your service , because the security is most important.

I don't understand whats all the fuss about when u unbox and set up ur phone it clearly asks you whether you want the Mi cloud services or not if u dont want it dont take it simple as that...as fas as cloud storage goes it is provided by most companies whether its google,dropbox,apple,facebook if data has to be hacked it can be hacked from anywhere then why just blame xiaomi..

The concern of Indians and IAF in particular is absolutely genuine, Unlike the US, you can't even question the use of such valuable data in China (every every word you type is censored)....It is very disheartening that the people of the oldest democracy (USA) haven't pressed for stringent privacy laws. As a matter of fact, India is probably one of the safest places for personal data, our government doesn't even have the infrastructure to do snooping the way NSA and China do.
I hope the Indian govt bans phones which send unencrypted personal data to foreign countries, and the govt must look into companies using encryption standards known to have inserted backdoors.
It is commendable that IAF has banned these phones, as the ARMY has pretty sensitive tactical info going around so that it doesn't go into the hands of enemies.
And I want request all Indians and every other countrymen to not give up personal info for the sake of convenience in technology.

This is a major concern not only for India but also for the Philippines. with the current territorial dispute its such a mystery why NTC would allow a CCP backed phone company to penetrate the Philippines market. I always had a feeling that xioami is being subsidized by china intelligence thus they are able to sell it in such a low price.

Privacy is becoming more and more an important issue. Edward Snowden recently also advised avoiding companies with web based services such as Dropbox, Facebook and Google, who he said were 'hostile to privacy'.

No matter how many statements the companies release, the personal data of the users is always at stake with these smart phones. There is no way that the user can do about it except not using these phones at all.

It's probably got more to do with paranoia than an actual security risk. India's relations aren't exactly amicable with China. So, a certain degree of suspicion is going to be ever there with anything coming out of China, whether there's an actual security risk or not. Same's the case with the USA. Then, there's probably the fact that Chinese companies are starting to put a dent in the big players' market share. So, maybe a "fear" of Chinese products would put consumers off from buying. What does surprise me, though, is how nervy people are getting with their data being stored on Chinese servers, while the same people, despite the known facts about the NSA, have no qualms with their data being stored on US servers. Your data is at risk anywhere, be it on servers in the US or China, or your very own home connection.
