Overpricing is one of the biggest problems for Samsung. In real life Galaxy Alpha should cost around 250-300 EURO (yes, I'm not mistaken, Galaxy Alpha should cost around 250-300 EURO). I think they just went gaga, asking for mid-range phone flagship device price. Huawei P7 is even thinner, has got metal frame and glass, offers better screen, comparable battery life, picture quality, much better UI etc. and still costs much less than Alpha...

            It is called competition...

Q3 2013 was before some good products that were a success in sales like Moto G (just to pick an example)

If you want to buy an smartphone these days, there are plenty offers that may satisfy you needs, not just Samsung.

This last line is just my opinion: Samsung still have the same boring design since SGS2, that is helping also to such low sales.

It is very usual. They are making some high end phone without radio, dual sim facility, with plastic body etc. Why people will buy their phone each and every time??? We are waiting for very sound Set otherwise we will also leave the company and my current GS5 will be my last cell from Samsung.

I'm just wondering how long it will take until Samsung sells its mobile division to one of Chinese manufacturers.

Shamesung, please continue your strategy of not providing any software update to the earlier launched (low/mid/high end) handsets & keep the launch price at rocket high. Introduce a new handset every week (if possible) every day following above. Surely, you will doom very soon!

Not much positive can be said unfortunately.

To top it all, almost EVERYONE else seems to be doing well which is what makes it worse. It's not some general downturn in smartphone sales. LG doubled profit. Apple had a huge launch and profits up 11%. Xiaomi sales through the roof and taking over third place largest smartphone manufacturer.

Here come the Samsung fanboys, actually congratulating Samsung for their 74% decline in sales. Do you guys think Samsung is celebrating right now?

                              The delusion is phenomenal.

They offer terrible after sales service that's what made me leave Samsung. After it took them two and a half months to repair a Samsung gear 2 that had manufacturer defect.

User are very smart now and they have more option to pick out the best product for their self. If manufacture not come out with new ideas then it will be very big problem. Chinese phone manufacturers are growing very fast and they're just behind Apple and Samsung now. Their phones are working great and prices are cheap.

This is mostly because other manufacturers have significantly increased their market share - e.g LG, Motorola, Sony, plus other smaller Chinese manufacturers.

The Galaxy S5 is also a bit of a weak upgrade from the impressive S4 imo.

Serves you right. Firstly, your phones are overpriced. Poor reliability. To make matter worst, there is no latest firmware update. Samsung forces user to upgrade their phones instead. Unlike other brands that provide such support even for their budget models. Kudos to HTC & Motorola. Learn.
