Android always had cut-throat competition, let it be from Sony(SE), HTC or LG. Before Android names like SE, Nokia, Siemens, LG and many others made sure there wasn't a moment when anyone could "relax".

I suppose what you really mean is that now the Chinese manufacturers (such as Xiaomi) are actually viable to compete internationally (on price).

That is even stronger competition, not realization that before there wasn't competition.

Wow, It seems even with Samsung's billion dollar marketing budget they're beginning to feel the heat.

Their cheap, unoriginal design will come back to bite them.

I used galaxy s3 and had enough of samsung bullshit, I didnt have software update for 1 year, then I had 4.3 update that messed up the phone for good 5-6 months until properly fixed.

All the new samsung phones are loaded with JUNK APPS who are used mostly by samsung employees and nobody else, touchwiz is laggy and always will be, because they dont acknowledge the issue and that pisses me off even more. I think snapdragon 1600 will be able to run touchwiz without choppiness and lag. Out of the box you have to tweak the phone for 1 week, strugling trough samsung non-intuitive menus. Same mistakes over and over again, it is fixed by dumping billions in marketing but for how long?

[deleted post]Actually alpha should have/had been their main flagship. It actually looks apart from the competition. It looks as good (if not better than) S2 (theyir only relatively good looking phone), it's almost as small yet packs much more screen. If they had added another mm in its thickness it would even sport great battery.

If anything it's the S series that should be discontinued, their A(lpha) series looks great thus far. Release two flagship each year (alpha and note), two mid end and one low end and call it a day.

Developing a better UI than TouchWiz might help. Otherwise, expect those sales to decline.

            Good luck, Samsung!

With semiconductors the only profitable part of Samesung these days, it will be interesting to see what happens when the A6 and A7 cease production.

One at a time samsung, one at a samsung too many flagships (bare galaxies) too much money to spend. You guys refused to see your own faults and errors and now see what it has resulted to. You no galaxy, you're samsung. Good for you!! :p

Anonymous, 30 Oct 2014is the time to replace the android line up with tizen and wp nowLol right, without Android Samsung is finished. Tizen? It will never get the market share or the importance. WP is still struggling, it is an influential player that made it, MS. If they cant do it, people at Samsung who make rubbish childish UIs have no chance with Tizen or any rubbish they try to come out with.

They got spoiled without competition, now there is plenty of competition and people are not going to give Samsung Apple like cult status to buy whatever over priced mid speced garbage they are trying to peddle to the customers, like the A series phones.

Samsung needs to revise it's pricing. Their products are too expensive. Other manufacturers are eating Samsung's food...look at Huawei and OnePlus with their reasonably priced smartphones. Samsung was at the top in 2011 with the S2 and in 2012 with the S3 but since then the competition has gotten stiffer and a whole lot more competitive. The name brand thing and expensive prices aren't cutting it anymore for some consumers.

nice. they should release high specs phone with low price instead of going the other way around especially with Moto, Asus and Xiamo releases.

Want to lose customers? Do these:
                              -Release lots of products
-Change battery and accessories for each new model (so old model owners will pay for the spare battery/accessory again and again and again). Finally ALL customers will be upset.
-Don't upgrade software for your premium products (do you know that Note 10.1 still runs on Jelly Bean!?)
-Demand for premium price on product release, after 5-6 months drop the prices gradually.

The jig is up Samsung. Your regurgitated model line up is overwhelming and your plastic, outdated offerings are played out and boring.

You're a perfect example of a company who fails to listen to the consumer.
