Ok Apple did not made the first ever GSM device but at least they are the inventor of so called modern "smartphone" today.

ashyjay92, 21 May 20173G won't be going away anytime soon, as most places don't even have a weak LTE signal.Agreed especially in the Philippines. I lived in Baguio last year and they use 2G and 3G speeds. No 4G existed in those mountains. Some parts, 3G was weak. Other parts, it was 3G only. Heck, they stilll use analog TVs. They have branded phones with TV antennas coming out from the top.

I hope 3G never gets defunct over there because I can't use my Sprint LG G5 over there if they did. I can only use their Smart network with my Sprint phone. Not Globe. That's fine because Baguio is better with Smart. 2G Edge speed is painfully slow. 3G is tolerable enough for surfing.
