Placement as far to one side of the phone would do that.

Samsung was able to put the speaker on the side, and we do know that speaker is larger than a jack, so you may be right, and the jack can actually just be put beneath the screen so we can still make small bezel phones with the jack on the sides.

Sony can't make their flagship phones and the X/X... moreWell I have no idea on how much space is needed to make a fingerprint reader. But given the width of a finger I would be surprised if it not way wider than what is needed for a 3.5mm jack, so I guess it should be possible to put it on the opposite side?

Hope its isn't like Nokia 6700 Classic cos it causes nuisance plus problems with the same usb port. Charging problems and earphone problems. Please not on OnePlus.....

Sony can't make their flagship phones and the X/X Compact to be bezel less on sides because of side fingerprint reader. Now you'll put it to side as well, considering it even takes more space than a fingerprint reader?
