I wonder what they will do with the intermediate zoom range between the main lens and the 5x periscope telephoto lens. Rumors suggest that S11 series will only feature 3 cameras, which means they have to use some really clever algorithm to maintain the high amount of details before switching to the telephoto lens, otherwise it will be Reno 10x Zoom all over again with photos starting to get blurry even at 1.5x zoom. And Samsung does not have particularly good records with software processing and quality of the optics, so it's really interesting to see how well they will tackle this problem.

Lossless zoom? Well it better be good, the lossless zoom in the Nokia Lumia 1020 is pretty much still unbeatable to this day.

That Samsung fan just showed up as I expected the first second I saw this topic.
And as expected, he perfectly ignored the similarity between this and Huawei.
When went to Chinese brands, all his words are copy, cheating and clone.
Well well well

[deleted post]Actually, it is partly correct. Apple does buy or barrow other technology and make it their own. Huawei, like most state backed Chinese companies, blatantly steals and uses other companies technology and make it their own. Vast majority of high end OLED screen on the top of the line Chinese made are from Samsung. The Chinese companies, with their government's blessing, does not allow a foreign companies to operate fairly or equally inside China, and if not cooperating with them, taking over the foreign companies and their technology and assets.

[deleted post]Huawei did not invent the periscope zoom camera.
Asus introduced it first in Zenfone Zoom in 2015.

You won't need a telefoto if you can take details from a distance!
If someone takes a photo of you without permision, just report to the police.

Thought for the day GSMArena / phone fans.
For a percentage of you, who await the ultimate do it all well phone/device, you will have aged double your full age. IE, If you're 20, the iPhone 1(2G) was released in 2007, that's 12 years ago, when you were 8, and the Galaxy (1) was just out too. Yet, the iPhone 2G was not that much different from the iPhone 11. Curvy shape, mechanical Mute control etc. Only difference, way better camera and faster, but even today, the 2G is pretty nice in the hand and even maps runs on it nicely. I know, I had one until recently. It never stuttered, even when browsing web pages in Safari on a 2G network.
Anyway, the point I am making is that whilst you wait the ultimate phone, you will double in age. Notice how when you watch movies or TV shows from not long ago, the only way you can tell they were not made this year is because the mobile phones are so clunky and small, even if only a few years ago?
Yeh, you'll be 40 when you're totally satisfied, and by then, you'll have other priorities, like keeping your skin smooth or feeding the kids...

So finally 5x optical zoom coming to galaxy series.
Hope Samsung kills it and catches up with Huawei in the photo department. Excited for the 108MP camera and new Exynos chipset

Some new kind of zoom lens or a way to zoom to the side of the fov/frame.
Or, its just random word for their ''the best 5x zoom'' feature.

Actually this type of technology should ban.
For real camera one can understand as we cant carry everywhere but phone should not have this feature as it will violate users privacy sombody can even zoom on peoples home which is really bad even one can snap a pic and take video.
