Remember OnePlus 3/3T? where is OP4? they jump to OP5 right?! same with Huawei will do.

Not exactly ground breaking. Look at the light bloom around those lights, I'm guessing mir range camera. If its premium it's not good.

Those images tell very little. They aren't full resolution. It's obvious that someone increased saturation on them to achieve the lively look, but pretty much any phone can achieve the same right now. You can make a lot of photos look good from afar by lowering the exposure a bit and increasing saturation. But when you zoom in, it is when the true quality shows.

That being said, new sensors usually bring improvement. The question is how big of an improvement.

Walter C. Dornez, 07 Nov 2019Or just better sensor sizes and a little bit of computational processingTech from A7RIV would be also welcome, using 12mp sensor but ability to create 48mp from 16shots(or just sharper ones too). Wishful thinking though, sony fans would be happy enough with working auto hdr, lag-free UI and some worthy place at dxo table of honor.
If its about rumors, I seen something like 66+12+66+12+... and dual apertures. As it may be sony's X phone, anything is possible. Or more like they need it, most of users already forgot about them, those who didn't talk mostly about lag and lack of features.
With new xiaomi beasts eating away even more customers they may see new red if done half heartedly.

Huawei usually will use custom sensor for their flagship, P40, M40. With 64mp plus Kirin 990 should be enough for Huawei to keep maintain at top dxomark ranking , if only samsung does not utilize 108MP on S11. Yes of course, huawei must put higher mp on telephoto sensor for easy upscaled to same resolution on pixel binned 64mp. but, my wallet...

vrvly, 07 Nov 2019No comparison so its hard to tell, but it feels nothing exceptional. Probably 64mp for masses.... moreThis is probably raw file .
Also 64MP from a phone will look ugly.
But much better downsized to 20 or 16MP.

Almost all my photos on computer were downsized to 8MP.
Good trick to hide some noise.

lms100pa, 07 Nov 2019Another very good image sensor that Sony will never use in their own mobile phones. Public portfolio for midranges. This comes from Sony Semicon.
Mobile has nothing to do with it.
Xperia flagship have exclusive sensors.
Since Z5, their sensors were never available to any other.

Since they now decided to focus on Eye AF+ Burst AF doing 30 calculations per second of AE/AF , I wont be surprised if they keep 12MP.
Rumors point to 12MP 1/1.7" + 1.9 micron
Less resolution = more speed (of course at cost of lower details you find with high res)

Exmor and Isocell always have same specs.
So this one must be 64MP.
A 108Mp one may be on the way.

No comparison so its hard to tell, but it feels nothing exceptional. Probably 64mp for masses. 64mp at 250€ is already nothing new, 108mp at 500€ is reality too. To make it interesting in 2020, they would need at least - way better low light, better colors or that kind(100mp+) of resolution. Anybody who can read from those samples more?

Well so far so good.
At least Xiaomi will distribute this among its phones for low price.
Compared to Sony phone using this with price above 1200

So that could be the sequel to the ever so popular IMX586. I hope it's a Quad Bayer 108MP and same or a bit bigger than Isocell Bright HMX.
