Anonymous, 11 Nov 2019apple doesnt manufacture anything thoThe point is that Apple only makes Flagship chipsets. There has never been a mid/low chipset from Apple and to count as midrange, get last year's and to count as low end, get iPhone SE and 6S.

Smart going with the old Snapdragon 835 to reduce costs... Those who know the specs will be happy with its performance

S835 might be 2 years old, but it's rather good soc and capable. It will run anything you throw at it just fine.

The new chipsets and even the midrange chipsets have a lot advantages than the older chipsets. The size, the AI, the use of new core. I would say even 4 gb ram is still enough for casual multitasking.
Kudos to sharp for listening to the customers.
Ans to you guys. Finally comment section interesting to read.

What I want Qualcomm to do is to discontinue the entirety of SD4xx, SD6xx and SD7xx and follow the Apple way; Only manufacture and sell flagship chips. If people want low/mid end, get last year or upto 3 year old SD8xx chip.

Qualcomm is desperately trying to differentiate their upper mid range chipset and high end ones by offering CPU performance similar to a high end one from 2 years ago and GPU performance about half as powerful as its flagship counterpart, then we have Sharp doing this LMAO

But it's good! Actually a great choice to be honest. Today's low end smartphones must be as good as a SD820 already, and mid rangers as much as SD835.

It's not about chipset only. Brand is useless and updates never will come.

More and more brands should re-use the older SD800 series in their phones. They are cheaper and better than newer SD700 series.

Still a decent Chipset. The Phone though isnt great. I easily switch back to my mi mix 2 se any day. I run a 675 now and it's decent too. I don't get why people would need a 855(+) for any task on any phone. It's just not needed. Sure, paying more than 800$ I expect a 855, but below that I'd rather go for a lower speced SOC but 8/128 and some big battery. Sadly only Xiaomi does that and raising prices now...

SoC is old but for the price it is still a fine deal.
