I have this phone and it performs very well. The only things that let it down is the lack of a headphone jack, very rare, and very brief artifacts or glitches when scrolling through Facebook or watching videos and no word on an android 10 update. I can accept a few minor flaws but the lack of an Android 10 update for a phone which is less than a year old is frustrating, especially when Doogee refuse to indicate whether they even plan to support android 10 on this model at any point in the future.

If one cant stop the bullet it will slow it down to a speed where second can stop it.
This will work the same. One will slow the impact or reduce its power and the second will stop it so it doesnt shatter the screen.

two layers would provide additonal drop / shock resitance but the scatch durability would be dependant on the top layer/ so gg 4/ not 8

Doogee is a scam, bought s70 with "MILSTD" from aliex last year, fell in to the sea for less than 1 meter, less then minute, phone got completely rotten from inside. Doogee oficial store did not even try to respond. Worst brand ever, do not buy.

It's more bendable, but doesn't absorb shocks well. Both are equal for scratch-ability.
The best way to make an "elegant phone" is to have both the backplate and front-plate be made out of plastic. And to have them transparent to show the insides of the phone. Now you just apply a Flat Tempered Glass to cover them. You now have the properties of a backplate and front-display that will not crack when dropped, yet are resistant to scratches. And when dropped, the Flat Tempered Glass can be replaced easily.
Now I said transparent as that can look nerdy/cool. However, if it isn't interesting then the user can apply a Flat Tempered Glass that will cover those sections with any design or photograph they desire. However, to make this all work the phone needs to be ~6mm thick, and the side-frame needs to be ~8mm thick. So after applying the Flat Tempered Glass to both sides there's a small ~1mm lip from the side-frame that will absorb impact away from the two faces (and camera hump!). The neat idea would be for the OEMs to factory apply the Flat Tempered Glass protectors to both sides, and a Rubber Bumper as well... all ready for the road-warrior right out of the box!

if i have a rugged phone, i prefer plastic screen with pre-apply protective glass layer and since plastic can't shatter, and the glass protects it from scratch
