Some of my older phones didn't have 4g (back when 4g wasn't mainstream) and I missed out on using the phone since it lacked 4g.
4 years later 5g will be the norm. One can use a 4 year old phone and still enjoy 5g while iPhone users will be forced to upgrade

Hmm, I got a Chinese variant of the K20 Pro and it's already been updated to Android 10!

I'm kind of familiar to this excuse.
It's something similar to what the CEO of a Chinese brand has said about the removal of the headphone jack, and I quote, "The removal of the headphone jack allowed us to bring a WHOPPING...............3% battery increase!"

Whether to buy a 5g phone right now or not depends on the user. If you're the type who change their phone every year or less, then you don't need to buy a 5g phone right now. But if you're someone who changes their phone every 2-4 years, then it makes perfect sense to buy a 5g phone, as this way, you'll be able to use 5g without needing an unnecessary phone upgrade just for this feature.

The people who bought iPhone 11 series this year will never get to use 5g unless they upgrade their phone, even though their phones will stay perfectly usable for the next few years (especially due to Apple's powerful SoC & long-term OS updates).

If you still don't get it, then there's nothing i can do about it.

So let me get this straight. People who bought the most premium variant of the OnePlus phone will need to wait the longest for updates? That's some sick kind of reverse exclusivity.

THE-TRUTH-REVEALER, 13 Nov 20195G at this point is only a gimmick...the average joe really needs to wait for at least an year... moreIkr but toxic android fanboys always omg iphones still don’t have 5G blablablabla. In facts, there are so many country are still not using 5G like in my country because it’s still new and dangerous to out health. So right now,5G development is under process whether can be launched or not in my country even it’s launched but only a few states will be supported with terrible signal

It was always going to be this way for the minority variant OnePlus Pro 5G as it was never intended to be a mass market phone. Likewise, the T-Mobile (USA) 7T Pro 5G McLaren is going to be running T-Mobile's own ersatz version of OnePlus' firmware with no option to convert to a global firmware and I give it a couple of months before we hear the weeping and wailing of disgruntled T-Mobile (USA) users.

5G at this point is only a gimmick...the average joe really needs to wait for at least an year to let the tech permeate a bit more and be worth the extra investment.
