DON'T DO IT!!!!! This latest update completely screwed up my XZ2 Compact. Because Xperia Companion only works on newer versions of the Mac OS, I am having to back up the phone and am about to do a factory reset and start over. TOTALLY not worth the effort for an update. Never had this problem before with any other company or phone.

NipponFan, 18 Nov 2019What about Xz1 family? It can still handle it. Very fast. I think they're also gonna roll out the updates for xleria xz1, x1c and xz premium (those with sd835 or above chipsets), but probably next year. It's also happened during oreo update (I got updated around 3 months after xz1 got oreo updates). Sony will focused on the newest devices first, then the older series. But this is just my opinion

Xinito27, 16 Nov 2019they don't know they make it upIt's a pentile diamond panel, checked with a microscope on mine, so, except if you know another screen manufacturer making these pentile diamond panel (please tell me, I'm really interested, I couldn't find any evidence), it's highly probable that Samsung manufactures these screens.
It's not really important as a matter of fact. What matters is that the 4k definition reduce drastically the blur effect of those diamond pentile panels.

But you are right, no one knows, we just assume it because it's probable and it's certainly not a "RGB panel" as some love to claim.

As I complained on the original post on their blog, it is a shame what they did to the XZ1 series (the compact one, especially, whoe compactness is still unmatched on the market). They didn't even get two years of monthly security updates, it went on a quarterly basis since this summer. It was pretty stupid on their part, because Android 10 and project Mainline would have allowed users to keep the phone somewhat secure, at least.
It is too bad, as the phone still runs great. Even the battery is holding.
