interesting gadget this Razr model, what would be the motivation to buy it at that high price, as for me I would buy a second iphone 11 pro max if I will spend that money.

This phone is a midrange Android 9 with features comparable to the cheapest of the budget phones under 80 Euros. It doesn't even have an action camera like its sibling G8 plus (also from Moto). Neither are the tech specs worth a second glimpse when comparing to budget phones on the market. And just one camera (Remember its a flip). And this is a first coming from Motorola Bangalore(India). So why a 1400 price differential for flip functionality? The coolness factor of the ad is clear that unless volumes pick up for this phone, pricing would be way below 250 Euros. Unless they significantly ramp up features to rival market flagship phones and not budget phones, this phone is not going anywhere. Defining flip as the selling feature may justify a slight price increase, but if the phone sells well, expect Samsung to launch its own flip phones (after the Fold debacle) at half the price. Not that others are not innovating. 4-5 players begin manufacturing this flip form factor, and the prices would be comparable to budget phones.

Kingslayer, 18 Nov 2019Still cheaper than the Galaxy Fold and Mate X. Looks better than them too. Dunno ... ... I like Razor as its so much smaller ... redefines mobile usability as you can carry big screen for more use cases... BUT I am intrigued by Mate X as it is in form of todays phones but it turns to mini tablet which makes it more usable as well ... and it got "Best" sensibility camera sensor in the market ( important for my use case ... to make short exposure with highest possible photons count turned to electrons per pixel)
Higher price... for me i justify price by increased device usage.,... and or replacing tablet (or dare I say notebook) usage (definitely case for mate x)

Resell value? I don't plan to sell it anyways...
I don't care about updates and I know for a fact that software will still work for 5 years even without updates.
Plus Apple slows down your device and we all know how good their batteries are...

Apple and the 6+ for example. they didn't gaf about integrity, and eventually many 6 pluses out there got touch disease.

I repair phones as a part-time job, and honestly I've seen many Xiaomis and Huaweis with better designs inside. My own ZTE Axon 7 has clear design traits that make it very well thought-out, for example the sizable ribs on the aluminum cover, good cooling system (extremely unusual for 2016), big resonance chambers on the speakers... and it's a budget flagship from China.

I would choose an American phone anytime over Fong Kong Chinese / Korean products that break easily and also loses value faster tha n American brands. Comsumers don't be fooled by critics like these.

Love the Community, 18 Nov 2019The original Razr phones don't have headphone jack. Your excuse? That is a weak defence. Back then, manufacturers were all selling proprietary adapters to milk consumers. Back then, the sound quality was also always terrible as those proprietary connectors were glitchy because they were, like USB-C, poor designs for audio.

This is a definitely not a phone for the masses. It's like first mobile phones, they cost a lot and were pretty bulky. This is just the first step for this kind of design to get to the masses, so in a year or two from now I expect to see a reasonable price for similar designed phones.

Love the Community, 18 Nov 2019The original Razr phones don't have headphone jack. Your excuse?People back in the original razer days used their phones mostly for phone calls and texting. If they listened to music they also carried a PMP or iPod. Storage on phones was pathetic too - enough room to store maybe one or two albums. Listening to music on your phone wasn’t a common thing. There was little need for a headphone jack.

“Phones” these days make PMP’s practically obsolete and lots of people still prefer listening to their audio through wired earphones. Removing the headphone jack is a cost cut that’s pissing off a lot of people and preventing them from looking at flagships as a viable option.. which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on one’s needs and budget.
