has anyone actualy broken one??? purchased in 1996, went to work with me landscaping 4 years not one prob.just recently (2006) dug out of box to lend to friend 2nd day he had it dropped it off 3rd storey balcony.... it still works better than a 6 month old V3 black.... 5110-highly recommended

talk about "hard to kill"...1996, 10 yr old,
dropped off 3rd floor balcony still works better than a 6 month old v3 black. i recon if i got a flat tyre in my car i could prop up my car with it.....(daihatsu charade 700 kgs)

like many others this was my first phone. got it in 1999, it's still lying around somewhere in my parents house. this is a brilliant and durable phone. trully a brick, but if they brought this one out today with a color screen, bluetooth and mp3's i would buy it in a heartbeat.
my dad bought my mother a contract when she went to hospital with cancer and got this phone with the contract. she already had another phone so he ended up giving me this phone with a pay as you go sim card. this phone was my life line, connecting me with my family even while i was in school.

Solid as a brick. (Was often referred to as one too) Drove the car with it on the roof numerous times and It was fine. It never skipped a beat.

my first ever phone. it lasted 4 years too bad i lost it to muggers. it was only repaired once under my care and its the lcd. but other than that, its numero uno in terms of phone strength and sturdiness. truly one of the best phones nokia has ever made. simple dsign, powerful, and user friendly.

in addition to this, my mom still use this fone and the hell to this .. she placed a rubber band around the phone since the battery is kinda loose.. and the lcd is blurred but one good thing is that it still works and i love playing the games on it..

well, i am so proud of this phone, since as everyone has been saying that this is the best phone ever built.. honestly i never had this one but my mom still owns this.. i consider this an inheritance.. know why? a bit story about this phone.. my cousin first had it, a gift from her suitor, then she gave it to ma bro then and after some months my bro bought a new phone and gave it to ma mom... so until now ma mom uses it!!haha..funny but true.. it's a phone for keeps!!

My First mobile - Dropped it 180m of a tower and although the housing broke (eailsy replaced) the phone was in perfect condition!!!!! LOL

the thing is.... this phone is just a phone. It was my first ever contract mobile and it was possibly the most used - would last a week between charges, could drop it down the stairs, pick it up and keep talking, it was so reliable.
so yeah it IS the best phone nokia have made - i've just got a 6280 and it's nice, but i've had it three days and had 4 crashes and charged it three times. the 5110 is what phones were meant to be like.

Im a celphone technician... I believe this is Nokia's most durable phone. I wish they can design a new phone with the toughness of 5110.
